INSTRUCTIONS FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

INDICATIONS FOR USE

Readyfit Ready-to-Wear Garments (Glove, Arm Sleeve, Knee High Sock Open/Closed Toe, Ankle High Sock Open/Closed Toe) are compression garments indicated for use on patients with:

  • stable or healed skin grafts;
  • partial thickness burns; or
  • minor scarring.

The Readyfit garments provide gentle compression over time to improve scar appearance and reduce mild oedema and can be worn over dressings.

The Readyfit garments are intended to be worn 23 hours per day (continuously except during showering or dressing changes).

Please note: If the patient’s limb requiring the garment does not fall within the sizing range then it is recommended you consider a custom made garment. The Readyfit garments cannot be altered or repaired by Second Skin.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Readyfit garments are not for use on patients whose affected limb has:

  • Third degree or full thickness burns that require custom made compression garments.
  • Circumferences that do not fit into the size range on the measuring chart.
  • Severe oedema or ischemia.
  • Unstable skin grafting with or without the presence of infection or open lesions without dressings.
  • Been amputated.

Successful outcomes using the Readyfit garments depend on continuous wear and care. The Readyfit garments are not suitable for patients who:

  • are unable to apply and/or care for the garment unaided and do not have carer support; or
  • have cognitive impairments that prevent correct application and/or care of the garment

HOW TO MEASURE

Using a tape measure and the Size and Colour chart for the specific garment required, follow these tips when measuring the hand, arm or leg:

  • Measure all circumferences to the nearest centimetre
  • Tape should be snug, but NOT tight
  • Glove: Position hand as flat as possible
  • Arm Sleeve: Position arm at rest by side of the body

It is recommended that garments are replaced every 8 – 12 weeks, or sooner if the garment becomes too loose and is not consistently in contact with the affected area, or becomes damaged in any way.
